MEDIA CONSULTING INTERN
As a freshman, I became the youngest student ever accepted into the Media in Ghana program (a multi-media study abroad trip sponsored by the School of Journalism and Communication) that is typically reserved for upperclassmen, grad students, and faculty. Eager to prove myself, I set a precedent for future undergrads while immersing in Ghana’s dynamic media landscape.
At Xpress Gas, a company revolutionizing door-to-door gas refills for communities where families travel 10+ miles for fuel, I had to rethink everything I knew about media strategy. With limited social media and digital access in our target audience, I quickly learned that trial, error, and real conversations were my best tools. Instead of relying on tech, I spoke with locals, observed daily routines, and adapted my messaging to fit the community’s needs.
I analyzed and optimized content, delivered weekly reports to executives, wrote a nationally advertised feature article on the company, and crafted a campaign that prioritized accessibility over aesthetics. This experience shaped my approach to problem-solving, cultural adaptability, and human-centered storytelling—proving that the best strategies start with listening.
